For information about working offline, see "Working Offline." For information about dial-up connections, see "Using Dial-Up Connections."
In response to any of these actions, Internet Explorer springs to life and attempts to display the selected Internet resource. If you aren't already connected to the Internet (through a full-time network con- nection or through a dial-up connection) and haven't asked to work offline, Internet Explorer activates the dial-up connection with which it is associated, and that connection then dials the appointed telephone number.
To end a dial-up Internet session, close all open Internet Explorer windows, or right-click the connection's icon in the taskbar's status area and choose Disconnect from the shortcut menu. (The latter method has the advantage of leaving Internet Explorer open, allowing you to continue reading the last Web page it displayed without tying up a phone line.)
