Changing the Default Font Settings

If you use a different font than Times New Roman 12-point for most of your documents, you might want to change the default font. If you do, Word applies the new font in all new documents that are based on the Normal template. (The Normal template is what all new, blank documents are based on.)

To change the default font, follow these steps:

  1. Choose Format, Font to display the Font dialog box.

  2. Choose all of the font options that you want for the default font.

  3. Click the Default button.

  4. Word displays a message box asking whether you want to change the default font, and reminding you that this change affects all new documents based on the Normal template (see Figure 6.11). Click the Yes button.

Figure 6.11. Word confirms that you want to change the default font.

If you want to change the default font to something else in the future, repeat these steps.
