Hour 5. Creating Documents from Existing Documents, Templates, and WizardsYou can type and format all of your documents from scratch, but you don't have to. If you have an existing document that resembles the document you want to create, you can simply base your new document on the existing one and then revise the new document as needed. If you don't have an appropriate document on hand, Word's templates can help you out. A template is a rough blueprint for a document that includes some combination of text and formatting. The default template, Normal, produces a blank document with "plain- vanilla " formatting. But Microsoft provides literally hundreds of other templates, for creating everything from memos, letters , and fax cover sheets to r sum s, reports , and more. In this hour, you learn to use two of these other templates, and you also try out a couple of wizards.
