If you've invested a lot of time creating a spiffy new template, you may want to share this template with other people in your office so that they can use it as well. You can do this in a couple of different ways. If you're on a network, you can give everyone access to it by copying it to the folder designated in Word as the workgroup templates folder. If you aren't sure which folder this is, choose Tools, Options, click the File Locations tab, and double-click Workgroup Templates. In the Modify Location dialog box, display the Look In drop-down list to see the entire path to this location. (Ask your network administrator for advice before proceeding.) If you are not on a network, you can copy the template to the user templates folder (or one of its subfolders ) on each of your co-workers ' computers. If you use this method, you might want to require a password to modify the template, so people won't change it accidentally . To do so, follow these steps:
People will be able to create documents based on the template, but they won't be able to modify the template itself. |
