Shading a Paragraph

Select the paragraphs to which you want to add shading.

Open the Format menu and choose Borders and Shading to display the Borders and Shading dialog box.

The Borders and Shading dialog box opens. Click the Shading tab.

INTRODUCTION

If you want to set a paragraph or two off from the rest of your text, adding shading might do the trick. For additional emphasis, you can also add borders, as described in the preceding task.

Click the color you want to use under Fill .

Make sure that it says Paragraph in the Apply to list, and then click OK .

The shading is applied to the selected paragraphs.

TIP

Removing Shading from a Paragraph

To remove shading from a paragraph, select the paragraph, choose Format, Borders and Shading , click the Shading tab, click No Fill under Fill , and click OK .
