Select the paragraphs to which you want to add the border.
Open the Format menu and choose Borders and Shading to display the Borders and Shading dialog box.
Click the Borders tab if it isn't already in front.
Click the option that most closely matches what you want under Setting .
INTRODUCTION
You don't have to know anything about graphics to set off paragraphs with attractive borders, and you can even add a decorative border around the whole page. In this task, you learn how to add a border. In the next task, you learn how to further enhance the appearance of a paragraph with shading, which adds background color to the paragraph.
Choose the options you like in the Style, Color , and Width lists.
The Preview area shows the options you've chosen .
Make sure that it says Paragraph in the Apply to list, and then click OK .
Word applies the border to the selected paragraphs.
TIP
Indenting the Left and Right Borders
If you don't want the right and left borders on a paragraph to extend all the way to the margins, set left and right indents (refer to "Adding Indents" earlier in this part).

Removing Borders from a Paragraph
To remove borders from a paragraph, select the paragraph, choose Format, Borders and Shading , click the Borders tab, click None under Setting , and click OK .
TIP
Adding a Border Around the Entire Page
To add a border around your entire page, click the Page Border tab in the Borders and Shading dialog box, and then select from the same set of options as those in the Borders tab.
