The shortcut is added to the Places list. You may need to click the down arrow at the bottom of the list to bring it into view.
INTRODUCTION
If a folder you use frequently is buried deep in the file structure on your hard disk or is on another network computer, it can be time consuming to navigate to it in the Open and Save As dialog boxes. Fortunately, you can avoid this hassle by creating a shortcut to the folder. The shortcut, which appears in the Places list on the left side of the Open and Save As dialog boxes, simply points to the folder. Clicking the shortcut opens the folder just as if you clicked the folder itself. For help displaying the Save As and Open dialog boxes, refer to "Saving a Document" and "Opening a Document" earlier in this part.
To move a shortcut up or down in the Places list, right-click the shortcut and choose Move Up or Move Down .
To remove a shortcut from the Places list, right-click the shortcut and choose Remove . This only removes the shortcut, not the folder to which it pointed.
If you want to shrink the size of the shortcuts in the Places list so you can see more of them without scrolling, right-click any of them and choose Small Icons .
The shortcut icons are now smaller. (To restore them to their original size, right-click any one of them and choose Large Icons .)
TIP
Renaming Shortcuts in the Places List
If you want to change the name of a shortcut, right-click the shortcut and choose Rename . In the Rename Place dialog box, type a new name and press Enter . This only changes the name of the shortcut, not the name of the actual folder. You can rename only those shortcuts that you've added to the Places list, not shortcuts that were there by default.
