INTRODUCTION
When you want to revise a document that you've previously saved to disk, follow these steps to open it again. You can open as many documents at once as you like, and then use the methods described in the next task to switch back and forth among them.
TIP
Opening a Document Quickly
Word lists the four documents that you've opened most recently at the bottom of the File menu and in the Getting Started task pane. If your document is in one of these lists, you can just click it to open it instead of following these steps.
As in step 3, double-click folders until the folder that contains the file you want to open is displayed in the Look in box.
Click the document you want to open.
Click the Open button. (You can also just double-click the document name .)
Word opens the document for you.
TIP
Previewing Documents
If you need help finding your document, you can use the Preview feature in the Open dialog box. Click the down arrow to the right of the Views toolbar button at the top of the Open dialog box (this button is immediately to the left of the Tools button), and choose Preview in the list that appears. The right side of the Open dialog box becomes a preview pane that shows the contents of the currently selected document.
