Click the Show/Hide button on the Standard toolbar.
Word uses a dot to show where you pressed the Spacebar.

Word uses the paragraph mark symbol ( ) to indicate where you pressed Enter to end a paragraph.
INTRODUCTION
The Show/Hide button is an extremely handy tool. It displays nonprinting symbols onscreen to show you where you pressed the Spacebar, the Enter key, and the Tab key. You might use this button to check whether you typed an extra space between two words, to see how many blank lines there are between two paragraphs, or to confirm that you inserted only one tab at the beginning of a paragraph.

Understanding the Show/Hide Button
The Show/Hide button is a toggle button. You click it once to turn it on, and again to turn it off. You can turn the Show/Hide button on and off whenever you choose.
