INTRODUCTION

If you have information in a Word document that you want to make available to others, you can convert the document to a Web page and then post the page on a Web site or a company intranet. Before you convert your document, however, check with your network administrator to see if it's necessary. In some cases, you can put Word documents on company intranets without changing their format at all.

TIP

Letting Other People View Your Web Pages

To make your Web pages visible to others, you must copy ( upload ) them to the Internet or intranet site where they will live. The most common way to upload pages is via a protocol called FTP. Word lets you perform this task from the Save As dialog box. As a first step, choose Add/Modify FTP Locations from the Save in list to tell Word about your site. From then on, when you want to upload a page, you open it, choose File, Save As , select the site under FTP Locations in the Save in list, select the desired folder at the site, and click the Save button. Ask your network administrator for help with the details.
