INTRODUCTION

Word enables you to alter images in a wide variety of ways. In this task, you learn two techniques that will get you started: cropping and adding or removing borders. You crop an image to remove a portion of it. Adding borders around an image gives it definition, while removing borders makes it blend into the surrounding text. You can crop an image regardless of whether it is in-line, but you cannot add a border to an in-line image. (To take your image "out of line," click it and choose a text wrapping option; see steps 1 “3 in the preceding task for help.)

TIP

Displaying the Picture Toolbar

If you don't see the Picture toolbar, Open the View menu, choose Toolbars , and select Picture .
