8.7 Monitoring a Solution Using Application Center Server

 < Day Day Up >

Once a cluster has been commissioned, the cluster administrator will need to use Application Center tools to monitor the cluster activities. The type of monitoring will probably focus around two of our core set of ' abilities'-scalability and availability. Luckily, this monitoring is made easier since Application Center Server will automatically provide a set of charts and graphs that are easily interpreted. This information will come from a number of sources, including Windows 2000 events, Microsoft Health Monitor data collectors, and Application Center Server.

Data that is collected by Application Center Server is stored in a SQL Server database for later analysis. To ensure that the SQL Server database does not become too unwieldy, the data collected will be summarized on a regular basis and copied into summary tables in the database. As you would expect, once the data is in SQL Server, it can be consumed by a range of tools, including Microsoft Access and Excel.
