After the launch of .NET, Microsoft appeared to enter a phase of frantic development work, while on the outside developers started to discuss what .NET was all about.
It also seemed that no one at Microsoft, apart from a select few who actually 'got it,' understood what .NET actually was and how it was going to change the way Microsoft did things. Lots of different views and ideas were heard as the messages from Redmond became changed in a game of Chinese whispers, no doubt reflecting the frantic efforts going on at Redmond to start shipping product.
