The Server Configuration Application is used to make changes to configuration values for a Microsoft Content Management Server installation. As expected, it is an administrator's tool only since it can make changes to database configurations that will impact the entire Web site.
Microsoft Content Management Server stores some system settings in the server registry, but most of the settings are actually table driven since they are stored in Microsoft SQL Server.
Typical Server Configuration Application tasks include the following:
Managing Windows NT domains
Turning guest accounts on and off
Changing Microsoft Content Management Server system accounts
Changing the size of the memory cache
Changing the size and location of the disk cache
The Server Configuration Application cannot change the Microsoft Content Management Server SQL Server from one server to another- neither can it change the SQL Server database being used by Microsoft Content Management Server (see Figure 7.11).
