7.3 Microsoft Content Management Server and Site Staging

 < Day Day Up >

There are times when a static version of a Microsoft Content Management Server Web site is required-for example, if you wish to deploy the site on multiple platforms such as UNIX or LINUX. The Site Stager is designed to take Microsoft Content Management Server content and automatically convert it into HTML and ASP format files. In addition, it is used to separate the development and test environment from the final online server site, creating a separate publishing and browsing architecture. This use can be extended further, and the Site Stager can be used to create different Web sites with different content for specific users, fed from a parent or master site. This may be useful if you want to build, for example, a customer- specific site for all your retail customers, which would be different from a finance site (see Figure 7.10).
