Summary

In this chapter, you have seen and understood Layer 2 VPNs and how they work in IP/MPLS networks. You have also seen several examples of how AToM can be used to offer various types of Layer 2 services. Several value-added services can easily be built by combining AToM with MPLS traffic engineering to offer services, such as virtual leased lines and bandwidth-guaranteed Layer 2 connections. This chapter also compared and contrasted the signaling techniques of LDP and BGP for pseudowire signaling and examined the benefits of Layer 2 VPNS built over an IP/MPLS network.
