Chapter 8: Variable Charts

In this chapter, we are going to discuss a selected amount and types of charts used for measurable data. Our selection is based on tradition, efficiency, and value.

OVERVIEW

As we noted in Chapter 6, there are two types of data: variable and attribute. Depending on the data, therefore, it stands to reason that there is a specific analysis that will allow us to define normal and special variation with each of the data. The analysis is the control chart, and the actual control charts used are called variable control charts. The selected types follow.
