Defining a vision, strategy, and set of metrics is not that big of a deal, comparatively speaking. Rather, it is indeed very difficult to implement an effective vision, strategy, and set of metrics in any organization. How, then, do we do the latter?
To begin with, we must change our paradigm thinking from acting as hockey players (who scramble when the puck is dropped and often react to situations in a hostile manner) to acting with an orchestra-style approach, because by definition, the orchestra is always cooperative and in harmony. This cooperation and harmony are the result of a rehearsed and well-planned approach.
