Appendix C: The Process of QFD

This appendix is based on the work of Akao (1990), Hauser and Clausing (1988) and Sulivan (1986). Its purpose is to show the application of each matrix as part of the design process.

Phase 1: Innovation targets

To set innovation targets, QFD uses the quality and design of experiments. It records these targets on several charts. See the pencil example in Figure C.1.
