About the Authors


Chris Stakutis is a renowned data storage industry inventor, technologist, and visionary with more than 20 years of industry experience. He holds more than 6 U.S. patents (eight more filed) along various data and networking inventions. Currently working for IBM managing cutting-edge data storage research and development, he was the founder and CTO of SANergy (high-speed data sharing), which was sold to IBM in 2000. Mr. Stakutis is often published in industry journals and seen speaking at industry events. Mr. Stakutis graduated from Worcester Polytechnic Institute in an accelerated 3-year program and then went on to obtain an MBA from Babson College at a leisurely 10-year pace. He has held key engineering and product management roles in various high-technology companies, including Mercury Computer Systems, Precision Robots, MIT Lincoln Laboratories, and many start-ups.

John Webster is senior analyst and founder of Data Mobility Group. Mr. Webster is responsible for directing Data Mobility Group's ongoing research into storage management and the management of data from the standpoint of the storage domain. Prior to founding DMG, Mr. Webster was senior analyst and IT advisor for Illuminata, Inc., where he founded and developed Illuminata's storage-related market research and analysis practice. Mr. Webster has held the positions of director of computing research with Yankee Group's Management Strategies Planning Service, and senior analyst with Clipper Group and International Data Corporation. He is a member of the SNIA's Storage Management Forum and serves as liaison to the SNIA's End User Council. He is also past chairman of the Greater Boston Regional Computer Measurement Group. He is a graduate of Boston University.
