Summary

This chapter explored some of the challenges of managing an IP address space, including options for obtaining an initial block of addresses. These challenges were further examined in the context of specific business practices. But this chapter stopped short of actually helping you figure out how to carve up and parse out addresses within any given network address block. As you might guess, several approaches can be used. Such address management tactics are explored in Chapter 14, "Address Management Tactics." Together, Chapters 13 and 14 show you how to manage an IP address space.
