Performing the Update

This is one of the moments when all of your hard work pays off. You're going to see how easy you've made it to carry out the update.

1. Open a browser and type http://127.0.0.1/Lesson6/Start/productmenu.cfm into the address field.

   This brings you to the product menu from which you can select a product that you want to update.

   

2. Click on a link to select a product to update.

   Once you have selected a product, all of its current information will come up. Make any changes that you want.

   

3. Click Update Product.

   When you click Update Product, the updateproduct.cfm template is called, and any changes you made will be rewritten in the database. If you made changes to the product name value, you will see that change reflected when you return to the productmenu.cfm template, both of which (the update and the return to the menu) will happen automatically. Otherwise, if you made changes to other fields besides the product name, you can click on the product's name again, and the changes should be reflected in the values that are now in the form.

   

   Do not close productmenu.cfm, as you will work with it in the next task.
