A useful feature of the Datasheet view is the enhanced ability to filter the contents of a library or list by clicking the down arrow at the top of the column next to a column title. When this arrow is clicked, you get the following options: Sort Ascending, Sort Descending, (Show All), (Custom Filter), and then a list of the unique values in the column. Figure 10.3 shows the results of clicking the down arrow and selecting (Custom Filter). In this example, the comparison operator equals was selected, the options Linda and Rand were selected, with the variable Or chosen to define the results. When OK is clicked, all documents with Linda or Rand as the document owners are shown. Other comparison operators available are: does not equal, is greater than, is less than, begins with, and contains. This makes the custom filter very useful for long lists to narrow down what is actually displayed. Figure 10.3. Custom Filter window in Datasheet view. |
