Understanding SharePoint Forms

Getting information out of your team members' heads and into your SharePoint site is often one of the hardest parts of being a Site Administrator. Fortunately, SharePoint supports several different types of forms, the information from which can be input directly into SharePoint lists.

A nearly unlimited supply of various types of forms can be created in SharePoint. You can set up Human Resources forms such as vacation request forms or timesheet forms. You can create customized forms using an XML form creator such as Microsoft Office InfoPath 2003. Finally, you can create "old-fashioned" HTML forms, using a program such as Microsoft Office FrontPage 2003, and have those forms embedded in your SharePoint site. Finding the right combination of forms to perform the job can do wonders in improving your overall site's efficiency.
