SummaryCisco supports various router interconnections over ATM networks on its multiple product lines, a summary of which is provided in this chapter. Also, this chapter presents Cisco's implementation of multiprotocol encapsulation (RFC 2684) and Classical IP (RFC 2225) over PVC- and SVC-based ATM networks. The chapter provides the syntax of the relevant Cisco IOS commands, supported by the examples. Multiprotocol encapsulation provides interconnectivity of Layer 3 and Layer 2 across the ATM networks. The examples in this chapter focus on Layer 3 support. Layer 2 support, LANE, is outside the scope of this chapter and is no longer part of the CCIE lab. Classical IP (RFC 2225) focuses on IP only and allows dynamic address mapping between IP and ATM. |
