Wrapping Up

Windows XP gives you flexibility and a number of configuration options when working with users and groups and permissions. As you are working with Windows XP, it is important to keep in mind that Windows XP Professional is designed for networking environments. However, Microsoft realizes that many networking environments consist of small office networks, or even home networks. For this reason, Windows XP offers easy user account configuration, but also more advanced features as they are needed. The same is true of file and folder permissions. You can use Simple File Sharing, but for greater flexibility and control, NTFS permissions are readily available in Windows XP.

In Chapter 7, we’ll turn our attention to managing disks in Windows XP.
