Starting a New Project

When you launch DVDit for the first time, you might come across some unfamiliar items. You must make a few quick choices regarding the parameters of the overall DVD project. Each time you begin creating a new project, you are prompted with the same choices.

When you first start DVDit, you are asked whether you want to:

• Start a new project

• Open an existing project

• Exit

Click Start a New Project. You then are asked to do the following:

• Choose a TV standard:

  • NTSC

  • PAL

• Choose a video format:

  • MPEG-2 (DVD-compliant)

  • MPEG-1 (DVD-compliant)

  • MPEG-2 for cDVD (allow any MPEG-2 file)

  • MPEG-1 for cDVD (allow any MPEG-1 file)

Click Finish, and you're ready to begin. More often than not, if you are planning to create as close as possible to professional DVDs for distribution, you want to use the MPEG-2 (DVD-compliant) version.
