Exporting Audio and Video from Premiere for DVD

One of the great features of Premiere 6.5 is its incredible flexibility. With DVDs becoming a more cost-effective and in-demand platform, Premiere offers the right tools to prepare your edited masterpiece for creating DVD-compliant files. Adobe has introduced its new Adobe MPEG Encoder, which offers the user complete flexibility to customize the compress parameters to get the best media possible.

To export a movie from Premiere using the Adobe MPEG Encoder, do the following:

  1. Select File > Export Clip or Export Timeline > Adobe MPEG Encoder. This opens the Adobe MPEG Encoder window, shown in Figure A.2.

  2. Select the type of MPEG Stream DVD, VCD, or SVCD for Adobe presets or Advanced to customize the MPEG stream.

  3. Select the Video Standard NTSC or PAL.

  4. Select the Output Details:

    Filename

    Location (where to save the file on your hard drive)

    Export range (Work Area or Entire Project)

    Fields preference (None, Upper, or Lower)

    Save to DVDit! media folder

    Launch DVDit! after export

  5. Click the Export button. The Exporting progress bar should appear, indicating how far along in the exporting process you are.

As you change any of the parameters, you will notice that Premiere automatically updates the new settings in the MPEG Settings Summary area.
