Chapter 9. The New Abobe Title Designer

No video production would be complete without its fair share of titles and graphic elements. That's not to say that every project needs to be filled with text and still graphic images. You might only have an opening title screen or closing credits. Whatever the case, there are things you can do to make your titles look more professional. Nothing makes a project look more amateurish than poorly created titles and graphics. Look at other people's work in the same style or genre in which you are working (hopefully high-quality projects) to get a sense of what works and what doesn't. Documentaries might use simple, plain-white Helvetica fonts. This looks simple, clean, and professional. A corporate sales video might require a bit more flair. Color, style, and layout all come into play to determine what you can do and what looks good. Matching fonts and colors for corporate branding is something to also keep in mind. Remember, there are no rules, but your viewers will be the judge of whether your titles and graphics work for the piece you've just produced. Some of them can even be pretty harsh.

Fortunately, Adobe has introduced a whole new and very powerful Title tool within Premiere. This application has more options and flexibility than just about any other Title tool I've seen in a stand-alone product. Your only limitation with this new Title tool is your imagination.
