In this chapter, we took the lessons learned separately over the past three chapters and combined them to create a single DataGrid capable of sorting, paging, and modifying data. We examined the issues that arise when combining multiple features of the DataGrid into a single DataGrid, and looked at how to work around these potential problems. We also looked at how to use a DataGrid interface to delete and edit records in the DataGrid's underlying database table. These two tasks were accomplished using techniques learned in Chapters 4 and 5. This chapter marks the end of Part III. Part III focused on exploring the DataGrid's useful feature set, which includes sorting, paging, and editing capabilities. In Part IV, we will turn our attention to a number of miscellaneous data Web control topics, such as using the ItemCreated and ItemDataBound events, creating custom DataGrid columns, and a look ahead to the future of the data Web controls. |
