Understanding What Happens When You Buy Music from the iTunes Music Store

When you download music from the iTunes Music Store, whether you use 1-Click or the Shopping Cart, that music is added to your Library (see Figure 24.1). From there, you can listen to it, add it to playlists, burn it to disc, move it to an iPod, share it, and so on. In other words, it becomes mostly like music you have added to your Library from other sources.

Figure 24.1. This music came from the iTunes Music Store; it doesn't look any different than other music in the Library and acts only a bit different.

Note

Also, just like other music in your Library, if you define one or more smart playlists with live updating enabled and then purchase music from the iTunes Music Store that meets the criteria for those playlists, your purchased music will be added to the appropriate playlists automatically.
