Adding Your GarageBand Songs to Your iTunes Library

After you have mixed your song, you can play it in GarageBand as much as you'd like. When you are ready to do other things with it, add it to your iTunes Library. You can then listen to it just like other music the Library contains. You can also use it in your iLife projects, such as in iMovies, iPhoto slideshows, and DVDs you create with iDVD.

To move your song to your iTunes Library, choose File, Export to iTunes. GarageBand will create a mix of the song and add it to your iTunes Library. Open iTunes and search for the song by its name (see Figure 20.17). You can play the song, add it to playlists, and use it in your iLife projects just like other music in your Library.

Figure 20.17. While it certainly isn't as good as the other music in my iTunes Library, it doesn't sound too bad considering the artist who created it!

NOTE

You can export a song from GarageBand in various audio file formats for other purposes, such as to send to someone else. In most cases, exporting it to iTunes is the best choice because you can access your iTunes music from the other iLife applications.
