Viewing Slideshows on an iPod

If you press the Play or Select button when you are viewing an image, you'll jump to the Slideshows menu.


You can view the images on your iPod in a slideshow. There are two general steps to do this. First, configure the slideshow options. Then, watch the show.

Setting Up an iPod Slideshow

To configure a slideshow, perform the following steps:

Select Main menu, Photos, Slideshow Settings. You'll see the Slideshow Settings menu (see Figure 9.8).

Select the option you want to configure and press the Select button.

3.

Use the resulting menu to choose the specific options you want to configure. See Table 9.1 for a description of the available settings.

Time Per Slide

Controls the amount of time each image is displayed

Manual; means you must press the Fast Forward button to advance the slideshow

2, 3, 5, 10, or 20 seconds; plays the image for the selected amount of time

Music

Chooses the music that should be played when the slideshow is playing

From iPhoto (Mac only); plays the music associated with the source in iPhoto

Now Playing; uses the music currently playing

Off; no music

Playlist name; plays the selected playlist

Repeat

Repeats the slideshow

Off; don't repeat the slideshow

On; repeats the slideshow

Shuffle Photos

Displays photos at random

Off; plays the photos in order

On; displays the images randomly

Transitions

Chooses the transition used between photos

Off; no transition is used

Random; uses a random transition between each image

Transition name; uses the selected transition between all images

TV Out

Sets the iPod to play to a TV

Ask; displays a prompt for you to select to play to a TV each time you play a slideshow

On; always sets to display on a TV

Off; always sets to play on the iPod only

TV Signal

Chooses a format for the signal sent to a TV

NTSC; uses the NTSC format (standard for the United States)

PAL; uses the PAL format (standard for Europe)


4.

Press the Menu button to move back to the Photos menu.

Playing an iPod Slideshow

To view a slideshow, perform the following steps:

1.

Select Main menu, Photos. You'll see the Photos menu.

2.

Highlight the source of the images you want to view in a slideshow. The options are the same as when you are viewing images individually.

3.

Press the Play button. The slideshow will play using the current slideshow settings (see Figure 9.9). Sit back and enjoy the show!

4.

When the last image in the slideshow appears, press the Menu button to return to the slideshow.

If you configure slideshows with the Manual setting, you'll need to press the Fast Forward button to advance the images in the show.
