Throughout the previous sections, you studied the basic concepts of JavaServer Pages and looked at the tags available in JSP. Servlet technology is the forerunner of JSP. You have already studied and written advanced servlets on Day 3, "Working with Servlets," and Day 4, "Advanced Servlet Techniques." Now you will learn about the contrast between developing a Web application using JSP and developing one using servlets. For this example, you will be implementing the same BookShoppingServlet that you completed on Day 3, but this time you will use JavaServer Pages. This will enable you to understand the differences in developing and deploying a Web application using JSP vis-à-vis servlets.
