Configuring a Virtual Host for Your Application

Mapping one or more IP addresses to a name is called virtual host mapping. To do this, Dynamic Naming Service (DNS) is used. When you configure a virtual host for your application, your server or cluster responds to the host name that you configure.

You can configure your virtual host from the administration server. This is done through the Services node after logging on to the administration console of your WebLogic Server. The Services node displays a set of services, including virtual hosts. You can click on the Create a New Virtual Host link in the right pane, fill in the boxes provided, and complete your configuration for a virtual host. After creation, this virtual host gives you the ability to define the HTTP parameters and HTTP access logging. You can define the servers and clusters that will respond to your vitual host and define the target applications to this virtual host.
