Summary

Today you received a brief overview of Web Services and its concepts. You saw the components of a Web Service, namely SOAP, WSDL, and UDDI.

SOAP, as you saw, is an XML-based messaging service that uses HTTP protocol. WSDL is a method used to define and describe Web Services. UDDI is used to look up and reference Web Services.

In addition, you also took a quick look at the simpler JAX-RPC API provided by Java for developing Web Services applications.

You also learned how the WebLogic Server provides these Web services. Finally, you saw the differences between J2EE Web services and .NET.
