Day 19. Using WebLogic Tools

You have explored the Web-enabled administration tool and security features available in the WebLogic Server. In the first part of yesterday's session, you studied how to use the Administration Console tool for creating an application domain and configuring resources like database connections and message queues. You also studied configuring and deploying Web applications like Java servlets, JavaServer Pages, and enterprise applications that use the different types of Enterprise JavaBeans.

Then you looked at the revamped security model of the WebLogic Server for configuring users and roles and for assigning access control permissions for different applications deployed in an application domain of the WebLogic Server.

In today's session the different tools available in the WebLogic Server that you have used over the weeks will be studied. The tools in the WebLogic Server are organized along the lines of the functions that they perform. The tools that will be covered today will be categorized as development (Integrated Development Environment, or IDE) tools, compilers, deployment tools, and administration tools. You will also be getting a brief overview of development tools like BEA WebLogic Workshop and JBuilder; compilers like ejbc and jspc; deployment tools like the BEA XML editor, WebLogic Builder, and webLogic.Deployer; and administration tools like the Administration Console.
