The Bottom Line

In building a business or implementing a technology project, alignment is difficult, and execution is key. To execute at the speed of technology, make your plan result in focused action. It's a plan to succeed.

Pain vs. Gain

Area

Rating

Business Gain

L = Low, customers haven't indicated this is important, questionable tie to mission, not a new product or significant improvement to existing systems

*M = Medium, some customers indicate important, positive but not direct tie to mission, represents some enhancement to existing system

*H = High, multiple customers have indicated important, direct tie to mission, represents strong enhancement to existing system or a new product or distribution channel

Initiative Pain

L = Low, "minimal" cost at least one order of magnitude less than medium-level initiatives, has minimal cross-department impact

*M = Medium, modest cost, at least one order of magnitude less than high-level initiatives, has some cross-department impact

*H = High, thought to be expensive, would require multiple business areas to change how they operate - operations, sales, finance, accounting
