Starting the Mail Merge Wizard

To start the mail merge process, you can begin with the document you want to use open on your screen, or you can create or open a document while you are using the wizard. To launch the Mail Merge Wizard, choose Tools, Letters And Mailings, Mail Merge Wizard. The Mail Merge Wizard opens in the task pane on the right side of your Word window (shown in Figure 35-1).

Tip - Choose commands quickly from the Mail Merge toolbar

If you're comfortable working with merge commands on your own, you might want to close the wizard and work only with the Mail Merge toolbar. To close the wizard, click the Close box in the upper right corner of the Mail Merge task pane. To display the toolbar, choose Tools, Letters And Mailings, Show Mail Merge Toolbar.
