You can liven up your Word documents with two types of graphics—pictures and drawing objects. A picture in Word is a graphic created from another file, such as a bitmap, a scanned image, a photograph, or most types of clip art. Drawn graphics (also called vector drawings) are created from lines, curves, rectangles, and other objects that can be changed, formatted, moved, and enhanced. In Word, you can create drawings by combining objects such as AutoShapes, freeform shapes, diagrams, curves, lines, arrows, WordArt, and similar constructs. In this chapter, we'll focus on creating and inserting drawing objects in Word.
