Overview

If you work in a virtual office that spans the globe, or if you often trade documents with clients or co-workers on other continents, you'll find that the multilanguage features in Word 2003 are intuitive and easy to use. You might use multilanguage features, for example, to do any of the following:

• Find out automatically in which language a document was written, and use the necessary styles, punctuation, and editing techniques to edit that document accurately

• Create documents that include text in other languages, using special characters and symbols

• Edit languages that are written right to left

• Switch among documents in different languages to compare content and format

• Proofread documents created in other languages without having to use a third-party proofing program

This appendix introduces you to these multilanguage features and explains the enhancements now available with Word 2003. You'll find out how to enable the multilanguage capability and work with the options for multilanguage editing.
