Saving XML Files

 < Day Day Up >

Once you've created and tagged your XML document, you're ready to save it just the way you want it. Some documents are fine the way they are—in Word format, or saved using a particular XSLT transform. Other documents you'll want to preserve as data only so that they can be imported into other XML applications.

When you choose File, Save, the Save As dialog box appears as usual. As Figure 29-11 shows, the only difference is a small one: the addition of Apply Transform and Save Data Only check boxes. These are the choices for your XML document. If you want to save only the XML data, click the Save Data Only check box. If you want to apply a transform, select the Apply Transform check box, and then click Transform to choose the transform file you want to apply. Finally, click Save to complete the operation.
