Another page setup task involves preparing your document for final printing. Specifically, you need to specify a paper size and paper source. Word offers a range of paper sizes. The standard basics are there-from letter (traditional 8.5-by-11-inch) to legal (8.5-by-14-inch) to traditional business envelopes. In addition to the usual paper sizes, Word also supports statement, executive, and index card sizes. You'll also find numerous envelope options.
To select a paper size, choose File, Page Setup to display the Page Setup dialog box, and then click the Paper tab. The options on the Paper tab all have to do with the paper size and source you'll use, as shown in Figure 15-3. Click the Paper Size arrow, and then choose the size you want from the list that appears.

The paper source is where Word gets the paper, envelopes, or other medium you'll use when you print a document. If you're working with a printer that has several trays, you can customize the documents you print, for example, printing one page on letterhead in one tray and printing subsequent pages on blank stock.
To select a paper source, choose File, Page Setup, and then click the Paper tab. Then, click the paper tray you want to use as the source in the First Page and Other Pages lists.
Tip | Check print options in the Paper tab Because so many Page Setup options overlap the Print Options settings, Word makes it easy to access the print options in the Paper tab in the Page Setup dialog box. When you're working with page setup settings, take a moment to check your print options by clicking the Print Options button in the lower-left corner of the Paper tab. Coordinating print and page setup options might come in handy, for instance, if you want to use A4 or legal paper sizes or you plan to use duplex printing. In those cases, you can set your print and page setup options at the same time, thereby avoiding having to remember to set appropriate print options when you print the document. |
