CONNECTING A PARALLEL PRINTER

If you have a printer with a parallel cable connection, connect it to the parallel port on the back of the system unit. This connector is sometimes labeled "printer" or "LPT1."

Connect one end of the parallel cable to the matching parallel port on your printer.

Connect the other end of the parallel cable to the burgundy parallel port on the back of your system unit.

Connect the printer's power cable to a power outlet.

TIP

USB Versus Parallel

Many newer printers connect to a USB port instead of the parallel port. If you have a USB printer, skip ahead to "Connecting a USB Printer," on the next page.
