You can also use Windows Media Player for ripping and burning, although by default it can only rip to WAV- or WMA-format files. If you want to rip to MP3-format files, you'll need to purchase an add-on MP3 creation pack. Before you start copying digital music files to and from CDs, you need to have the proper software installed on your PC. Fortunately, most of these programs are free downloads and the ones that aren't don't cost that much.
