Committing yourself to a test date is the best cure for procrastination, especially because the test costs $499 (U.S.) . . . and an additional $100 (U.S.) if you have to change your exam date! Setting your date will help you plan and focus your study efforts.

Also, unlike most certification exams, the CISSP exam isn’t available at your neighborhood computerized testing center or training facility. You need to look at the schedule on the International Information Systems Security Certifications Consortium (ISC) ² Web site to find a suitable date and location. Some travel might be necessary, which will require advance planning, as well.

Finally, expect an additional $100 (U.S.) late registration fee if you register less than 16 days before the exam.

 Remember   (ISC) ² will send you a letter that you must bring to the exam. Don’t lose that letter! If you have it in electronic form, print it and keep it in a safe place. You need to bring it with you to the exam.
