To find messages

  1. On the toolbar, click the Find button.

  2. In the Look for box in the Find pane, type a word you know is in the message you are looking for.

To assign a message to a category

  1. Select the message, and on the Edit menu, click Categories.

  2. In the Item(s) belong to these categories box, type the name of a new category, or, in the Available Categories list, select the appropriate category for the message.

Click OK.

To create a Search Folder from a template

  1. On the File menu, point to New, and then click Search Folder.

  2. In the Select a Search Folder list, click a template.

  3. If a Choose button appears in the Customize Search Folder area, click it, specify the criteria to use, and then click OK.

Click OK to close the New Search Folder dialog box.

To rename a Search Folder

  1. In the Navigation Pane, right-click the folder, and then click Rename on the shortcut menu.

  2. Type the new name, and then press Enter.

To create a custom Search Folder

  1. On the File menu, point to New, and then click Search Folder.

  2. In the Select a Search Folder list, click Create a custom Search Folder.

  3. In the Customize Search Folder area, click Choose.

  4. In the name box, type a name for the Search Folder.

  5. Click the Criteria button, specify the search criteria, and then click OK.

Click OK in each of the open dialog boxes.

To create a view to filter messages

  1. On the View menu, point to Arrange By, point to Current View, and then click Define Views.

  2. In the Custom View Organizer dialog box, click New.

  3. In the Create a New View dialog box, type the name of the new view, select the type of view, select the folders on which the view can be used, and then click OK.

  4. In the Customize View dialog box, click the button of the element you want to customize.

  5. In the resulting dialog box, make the changes you want, and then click OK.

  6. Repeat Steps 4 and 5 for each element you want to change.

  7. Click OK to close the Customize View dialog box and save your changes.

Click Apply View, and then click Close.

To create a rule to filter messages

  1. On the Tools menu, click Rules and Alerts.

  2. In the Rules and Alerts dialog box, click New Rule.

  3. In the Rules Wizard, follow the instructions to create the new rule.

When you are done, click Finish, and then click OK.

To filter junk or adult content messages

  1. On the Actions menu, point to Junk E-mail, and then click Junk E-mail Options.

Select a level of protection, and then click OK.

To create a folder

  1. On the File menu, point to New, and then click Folder.

  2. In the Create New Folder dialog box, in the Name box, type the name of the folder.

  3. In the Folder contains list, click the kind of items you want to store in the folder.

  4. In the Select where to place the folder list, click the mailbox or folder in which you want to create the new folder.

Click OK.

To move a message to a folder

  1. Right-click the message, and on the shortcut menu, click Move to Folder.

  2. In the Move Items dialog box, click the folder to which you want to move the message, and then click OK.

  1. In the Folder List, right-click the folder, and click Rename.

  2. Type the new folder name, and then press Enter.

  1. In the Folder List, click the folder you want to delete.

  2. On the toolbar, click the Delete button.

To share a folder

  1. In the Folder List, right-click the folder, and on the shortcut menu, click Sharing.

  2. Click the Add button.

  3. Select the person with whom you want to share your folder, and then click OK.

  4. Click Apply, and then click OK.

To make someone a delegate

  1. On the Tools menu, click Options.

  2. On the Delegates tab, click Add.

  3. In the Type Name or Select from List box, select the person you want to make a delegate, and click OK.

  4. In the Delegate Permissions dialog box, select the permissions you want to grant the delegate, and then click OK.

  5. Click OK to close the Options dialog box.

To save a message as an HTML file

  1. Select the message, and on the File menu, click Save As.

  2. In the Save As dialog box, browse to the location where you want to save the file.

  3. In the Save as type drop-down list, click HTML.

  4. Click the Save button.

  1. Select the message, and on the File menu, click Save As.

  2. In the Save As dialog box, browse to the location where you want to save the file.

  3. In the Save as type drop-down list, click Text Only.

  4. Click the Save button.

  1. On the Tools menu, click Options.

  2. In the Options dialog box, click the Other tab, and then click the AutoArchive button.

In the AutoArchive dialog box, choose the global archive settings you want, and click OK to close each of the open the dialog boxes.

To specify archive settings for a folder

  1. In the Folder List, click the folder you want to archive.

  2. On the File menu, point to Folder, and then click Properties.

  3. In the Properties dialog box, click the AutoArchive tab.

  4. Select the settings with which you want to archive the folder, and click OK.
