Office Converter Pack

The Microsoft Office Converter Pack bundles together a collection of file converters and filters that can be deployed to users. The Converter Pack can be useful to organizations that use Microsoft Office 2003 in a mixed environment with earlier versions of Office and other applications, including Office for the Macintosh and third-party productivity applications. While these converters and filters have been available previously, they are packaged together here for convenient deployment.

Install the Office Converter Pack

The Office Converter Pack is copied to your computer by the Office 2003 Resource Kit Setup program, but you must install the files separately. To install the Office Converter Pack, run Oconvpck.exe from the \Program Files\ORKTools\ORK11\TOOLS\Office Converter Pack folder on your computer. This executable file will copy the converter files to a predetermined location on your computer:

• Text converters are copied to \Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\TextConv\

• Graphics converters are copied to \Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Grphflt

The Office Converter Pack can also be downloaded from the Toolbox on the Office 2003 Resource Kit Web site.

Summary of converters and filters

When you install the Microsoft Office Converter Pack, only the converters and filters that are appropriate for your version of the Microsoft Office programs are made available for installation.

Text Converters

The following text converters are installed by the Microsoft Office Converter Pack for your installed version of Microsoft Office.

For Import (Read) and Export (Save)

• AmiPro 3 (Ami332.cnv)

• Microsoft Word for DOS versions 3.x–6.0 (Doswrd32.cnv)

• Microsoft Works 3.0 (Works332.cnv)

• Microsoft Works 5.0

• RFT-DCA (Rftdca32.cnv)

• Windows Write versions 3.0 and 3.1 (Write32.cnv)

• WordPerfect 4.x (Wpft432.cnv)

For Import (Read) Only

• dBASE version 2.0, 3.0, and 4.0 (Dbase32.cnv)

• Microsoft FoxPro (Dbase32.cnv)

• WordStar 3.3, 3.45, 4.0, 5.0, 5.5, 6.0, and 7.0 for DOS (Wrdstr32.cnv) and versions 1.0 and 2.0 for Windows (Wrdstr32.cnv)

For Export (Save) Only

• WordStar 4.0 and 7.0 for DOS (Wrdstr32.cnv)
