Using Visual Basic for Applications

The "Designed for Windows NT and Windows 95" Logo Program was developed to help end users easily identify desktop hardware and software products that were designed specifically for the Windows family of 32-bit operating systems.

This lesson explains the installation, interface, naming, and compatibility standards applications must meet to be logo-compliant.

After this lesson you will be able to
  • Describe the Windows logo compliance standards.
  • Explain how the Windows registry is used in application development.
Estimated lesson time 20 minutes

Users can mix and match hardware and software products with the Designed for Windows NT and Windows 95 logo and be assured that the products take advantage of the new technologies integrated into both of these operating systems.

Figure 4.6 The Designed for Microsoft Windows NT and Windows 95 logo

The Designed for Windows NT and Windows 95 logo signals to customers that a product:

  • Has been tested and is fully functional on both Windows NT and Windows  95.
  • Complies with Windows standards.
  • Was designed to take advantage of the latest software and hardware technologies available on Microsoft Windows NT and Windows 95.
  • Uses 32-bit code.
  • Has been tested and verified by Veritest, an independent organization that tests Windows compliance.

If a product contains multiple applications (commonly known as a suite), each individual application must pass the logo requirements for the bundle to receive the logo.
