The Microsoft Speech API (SAPI) allows you to write Win32-based applications that use speech recognition and text-to-speech technologies. SAPI is readily available to developers writing in Visual Basic, C/C++, or any other programming language that can access OLE objects directly or through automation. Using SAPI requires Windows 95 or Windows NT and third-party speech engines. Engines must be provided for both speech recognition and text-to-speech.
